To Spend or To Give that is the question

I've always said that Global Poverty can and will be resolved and mostly like it will come the younger generations. In our local paper this weekend a person that rang the holiday bell for Salvation Army collections wrote in how moving it was to see young students putting money in the kettle and not just small change but bills. If we as parents educate our children on poverty there's really no limit to what they will do to participate in making sure that in their lifetime it is conquered just as we conquered other great tasks.

Before I became an activist for One.org and Save Darfur and Bread for Life I admit I was a bit cynical and skeptical about how it could ever be resolved. And there are times when I have to release the anger at our very consumer driven and materialistic culture in America. Most recently it was the tragic death of a 34 year old Walmart worker after an "out-of-control" mob of frenzied shoppers smashed through the Long Island store's front doors and trampled him injuring 4 others including a woman who was 8 months pregnant on that infamous day I've come to despise with it's fitting name "Black Friday" the day after Thanksgiving. Even more disturbing is that the store remained open and the shoppers continued to dash for deals! I hope this despicable death puts an end to the madness but as I see the insanity grow year after year it's hard to be hopeful. Didn't we ALL use to enjoy the day off relaxing and visiting with our family over a leisure cup of coffee or hot cocoa reminiscing about the good old days or playing cards with our Uncles? Luckily, it seems my whole family is on board with me about not getting into the craze at all although my Dad did rifle through the flyers in our local paper at our Turkey Dinner exclaiming "Hey, look at this a Robot Vacumn on sale for 59.99!" While my Mom just grumbled in the background for the fifth time "I don't need a vacumn..." She actually gets her vacumn fixed! There's another dying custom in our culture.

But there is a silver lining always! And my heavy heart had this tragedy mixed in with an amazing food pantry drive that lifted my heart in the 2nd annaul "Fill the Dome" fundraising event to literally "fill" our FargoDome stadium with non perishable food items. This event was spearheaded by the Metro Student Council Ambassadors last year with no adult supervision! And due to their outstanding vision and leadership as well as the generosity of big hearted residents throughout our community, 142,535 pounds of food was collected as well as more than $55,000 dollars raised for the more than 15,000 seniors, children and working families needing food assistance in our community and the State of North Dakota. The sheer amount collected brings tears to my eyes and then to think of how far this assistance will reach truly shows what can be done with a well thought out plan of action and the drive to see it through. This food will be distributed to the Churches United for Homeless shelter, Dorothy Day House and Food Pantry, Emergency Food Pantry, Great Plains Food Bank, New Life Center, Reach Food Pantry, The Salvation Army, Southeastern North Dakota Community Action Agency and the YWCA of Cass Clay!

These shelves like many food pantry shelves across the country have seen increased demand and more and more pantrys are having to turn people away. The vast amount of help that is on the way due to these students vision to make a difference really illustrates the impact the younger generation can have on their communities! My children participated in various fund raising contests between other classes or "teams" and area schools to do their part to Fill the Dome. They also were able to go to the Dome on school field trips to see first hand what their school and their community had come together to do. This is a vital, emotional component that my husband and I bring to raising our children to instill the desire to get involved and see what we can do when many hearts and minds come together! I see many children here in our community and abroad that are leading by example and it is my hope that more and more parents will "get it" and teach and instill this give give and give some more attitude to their children as opposed to a stop at nothing to save a buck and spend spend and spend some more attitude that we can tend to see this time of year.

Great Spirit Prayer

Great Spirit Prayer (origin unknown)
Attributed to Martin J. Shutt

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------

"Oh, Great Spirit, whose voice I hear in the wind,

Whose breath gives life to all the world.

Hear me; I need your strength and wisdom.

Let me walk in beauty, and make my eyes ever behold the red and purple sunset.

Make my hands respect the things you have made and my ears sharp to hear your voice

Make me wise so that I may understand the things you have taught my people.

Help me to remain calm and strong in the face of all that comes towards me.

Let me learn the lessons you have hidden in every leaf & rock.

Help me seek pure thoughts & act with the intention of helping others.

Help me find compassion without empathy overwhelming me.

I seek strength, not to be greater than my brother, but to fight my greatest enemy - Myself.

Make me always ready to come to you with clean hands and straight eyes.

So when life fades, as the fading sunset, my spirit may come to you without shame.

Change has come to America

A New Dawn

What a historic night and new Dawn it is today in America.

I'm moved by so many images from last nights Presidential Election that it's hard to single out just one or two. I cannot remember the last time if ever that I was moved to tears to this extent in any political election in my lifetime.

The emotion that most comes to mind for what I felt and for what I saw on the faces of others is: JOY.

I will never forget the images of happiness, and tears and joy of so many faces across not just the United States but the world or the images of spontaneous celebrations in Indonesia, Kenya, France, Asia and of course here at home in Harlem, Birmingham, New York City and outside the White House itself. Horns honking and citizens hanging out the windows as if a long bloody war had ended. And perhaps it has. We have come the furthest in racial divides since at least Dr. King's speech and perhaps even since some say the Emmancipation Proclamation itself. We've shown the world we do care about our sovereignty enough for what some statistics say is the highest percentage of voter turnout in a century. Apathy went down, at least for now, for a long winters nap. Young voters who've never voted before, elder voters who'd had given up hope of finding a voice in dire times, and of course minority voters, from African American, to Native American, to Latino and everything in between.

As someone who considers myself more of a global citizen than a patriot I had goose bumps reading the palpable enthusiasm in the U.K.'s Guardian and other newspapers all over the globe.

We now have a champion for Darfur in the White House, We have a Global warming advocate to reduce if not eliminate coal power plants and create new green energy and reverse last minute, last chance environmental legislation that is devastating to our planet in peril. We have a voice for middle and lower class Americans. A man who was raised by a single mother and who received assistance to attend the finest schools in the nation. Someone who recognizes he wouldn't have become President, a Senator or even a college student without these programs. We finally have an advocate for Universal Health care, something the rest of the world has increasingly called a basic human right but something the wealthiest country in the world has yet to resolve. We have a President elect who has declared to end an unjust war that is dragging on in it's 5th year killing and injuring thousands if not hundreds of thousands of innocent Iraqi's and American soldiers year after year. And perhaps most importantly we have a champion for Hope not Fear who has promised to lead with the prinicipal of Peace not the barrel of a gun.

The enthusiasm was tempered somewhat being that I live in one of the "red states" with some-not all-but some- angry, bitter, fearful and divisive McCain supporters. It wasn't that I myself encountered these emotions--I wish it were-I fortunately encountered hugs, high fives and tears in grown men and women. It was my 10 year old son who experienced this negativity. Arising at 3am this morning to watch more of the "good news" he could hardly contain himself as he put the "I was there" Obama convention button from his favorite Uncle on his jacket and practically skipped off to school, but in the afternoon walked slowly out to the car with a sad frown at the end of the day. Asked how his day was he replied "Hell." And he's never used that word before. He said he had to endure day long cackles of sore loser classmates who kept calling Obama a "baby killer." This was not singled out by his class as I also heard it happened in my nieces KINDERGARTEN class, and another friends 2nd grade class and in my daughters middle school as well. My son did not bother to run off the litany of reasons he admires Obama, some but not all of it coming no doubt from his parents discussions and admiration of Obama's work for the poor as a Community organizer, his proclamation to reduce our dependency on foreign oil completely in 10 years and begin to heal our planet, his admission that we need to offer more muscle to end the Genocide in Darfur and so forth. What is the point with arguing that with someone that a single man is literally or figuritively "a baby killer?" We encourage him to stay out of such arguments and only to compliment the good in McCain even though many cannot do the same. And I'm filled with deep pride with how he has handled this ugliness with civility and maturity time and time again but especially today. The Pro Life movement must begin to see the growing lack not just of maturity but spirituality and Christianity in the movement of the cause. Perhaps when they see the number of unwanted pregnancies dwindling they will, or when the number of abortions drop further then they did under the Republican Majority Pro Life President they will stop leaving it at the foot of one man. It is my deep and sincere hope that these children and their parents in my community as well as McCain-Palin supporters nationwide can leave the fearful, angry train behind to hop on the Hope & Joy train. One young girl told my son that she was "Fearful." How sad! But,why am I not surprised that this residue of fear still remains in but a few hearts? How unfortunate for them to be missing this reknewed Spirit of Light and Change afoot here, Now, Today, in our midst. Time will bring them on board and meanwhile we cannot let their troubles tamper our Joy and emotion in this historic moment that will forever be etched in our hearts of when we turned the tide to a New Dawn. Our racial divisions certainly won't be healed overnight, our economic divide from the have's and the have not's is perhaps greater than ever before, but we have stood up as One with a clarion call for change to leave the Fear behind. I leave you with some of my favorite words of President Elect Obama's speech and the images of this historic night.

Image 1-3: More than half a million people gather in Chicago's Grant Park to hear President Elect Barack Obama, first look at our new First Family

Image4: Atlanta, Georgia: Christine King Farris, sister of civil-rights leader Martin Luther King Jr

Image4:Kogelo village, Kenya: Kenyan family members of president-elect Barack Obama celebrate after his victory in the US election was announced. The village is where Obama's step-grandmother lives

So let us summon a new spirit of patriotism; of service and responsibility where each of us resolves to pitch in and work harder and look after not only ourselves, but each other.

In this country, we rise or fall as one nation; as one people

As Lincoln said to a nation far more divided than ours, We are not enemies, but friends...though passion may have strained it must not break our bonds of affection.

Its been a long time coming, but tonight, because of what we did on this day, in this election, at this defining moment, change has come to America.

And to all those who have wondered if Americas beacon still burns as bright - tonight we proved once more that the true strength of our nation comes NOT FROM THE MIGHT OF OUR ARMS OR THE SCALE OF OUR WEALTH, but from the enduring power of our ideals: democracy, liberty, opportunity, and unyielding hope.

This is our chance to answer that call. This is our moment. This is our time - to put our people back to work and open doors of opportunity for our kids; to restore prosperity and promote the cause of peace; to reclaim the American Dream and reaffirm that fundamental truth - that out of many, we are ONE; that while we breathe, we hope, and where we are met with cynicism, and doubt, and those who tell us that we cant, we will respond with that timeless creed that sums up the spirit of a people:

Yes We Can

Archangel Ariel through Isaac George

October 31st, 2008

“Greetings, Ariel here. We are here to share with you at this time because there has been, and continues to be, a quantum shift occurring on the Planet. This shift, or morphing, is due to the collapse of a number of parallel streams of consciousness into each other. Perhaps a review of parallels would be useful.

Parallels represent current and potential realities, similar to the parallel universes now being postulated by many who research in the field of quantum physics. Whenever a decision is made, by anyone or any group, then a particular series of consequences are inevitable, unless the energy generated within the particular individual or group is withdrawn or redirected. When one set of decisions intersects with another set, a parallel merge or collapse occurs. The merge gains momentum towards an event, while a collapse creates chaos patterns, which then spin off into other possible scenarios.

What is occurring for many now is another choice point, which we have spoken of before. The choice point before humanity at this time is whether to choose sovereignty, or continue to give power away to external authority. Sovereignty is represented in spiritual terms by Christ Consciousness, as Christ Consciousness is perfect love without fear, and seeks not to dominate or influence any aspect of life.

Now, when we speak of perfect or unconditional love, we do not imply that this is love that is only tender, compassionate and soft, but also a love that is strong, sovereign and capable of action. Whether expressed in action or not, sovereignty implies personal self-realization and response-ability. The final parameter we would need to add here is that all of these models exist only within manifest reality, and are neither the form nor the function of Source consciousness or Spirit. Manifest reality is the sum of collective thought formed by the process of consensual agreement of an unimaginable number of individuations of the One, and various constellations of souls into groups, races, and movements. The situation on Planet Earth is a microcosm of the macrocosm, and holds fields of potential awakening and transmutation for many star races and multi-dimensional beings that are not even resident within a human form!

In the past, we have made few comments regarding the political process within any nation. However, there are so many hopes and fears riding within collective aura of humanity at this time, that is now the moment to offer a higher perspective.

The energy of the U.S. elections will not be confined to that country’s borders, and the outcome of the election will directly affect every soul on the Planet. The effect may be a merging of reality streams in some cases, and a cause of conflict and collapse in others. However, there is no neutrality in a polarity system, and it will seem for awhile that the great game of forces of light versus the dark forces is not only continuing, but growing even more intense and desperate! Because there is already a powerful projection of divisiveness within the American social fabric due to identification with labels (red states, blue states, liberal vs. conservative), and also because many see the current administration as the personification of evil, then it can become very understandable that many would see a particular candidate as the embodiment of ‘light’ and change, while at the same time seeing his opponent as a continuation of the ‘evil’ (the reverse of live) already in power. These souls then project the inner need for a ‘savior’ or benevolent protector onto one candidate, and invest that individual with the power to change everything for the better. There is no greater giving away of power on a mass scale as in human political behavior. It only delays the eventual arising of the human race into the awareness that it is time to outgrow politics, and begin to embrace sovereignty and cooperation. Interdependence instead of hero worship. The mass media has consciously or unconsciously labeled the Democratic candidate, ‘the One’, or ‘the black Jesus’, and this is a disservice to that candidate and to the electorate. Moreover, it perpetuates an illusion of superiority and allows people to become dependent on symbols of external power and prestige. It is a form of mass hypnosis, one designed to add fuel to the polarity game.

However, there is something else happening here that you know goes much deeper. Spirit, the consciousness that embodies ‘no separation’, or political polarization, is gradually infiltrating the game of duality on Planet Earth. A good metaphor is that of a hacker infiltrating a computer network and implanting an unconditional love virus, or ULV, that begins to erode the infrastructure of control and manipulation that has been the dominant operating program for so long. As the virus spreads, the anti-virus programs are alerted to the invader, and more and more levels of security and control are initiated to combat the threat. As the ULV spreads, more and more components are altered, and the reactivity of the dominant paradigm intensifies. The recent financial collapses are the early warning signs of a coming system crash, but not as severe or dramatic as you might fear. This is a process that is leading up to and past the 2012 marker, for 2012 is only a point in the timeline where one phase ends and another begins. In actuality, one of the main markers is right NOW, in 2008. These markers indicate the real revolution about to occur, the revolution of the Christ Consciousness within all of humanity, the real Second Coming of the Christ.

The Second Coming will not be an electoral process. The world system is being transformed from the inside out, reclaimed by Love, one soul at a time. There will not be men or women riding white horses, and promising wealth, power, security and comfort. These are the temptations of the world, to promise security in return for compliance. There will only be the rising wave of beings that recognize the sovereignty of themselves and all other forms of Life, and respect it. There will only be the recognition that you have always had everything you need, and so why would you need anything of anyone else? That is the secret behind The Secret. There will only remain the desire to surrender to the harmony within, while eliminating the suffering of others by not competing for resources, living in harmony with the environment, and with all expressions of Life.

We would like to close with a little story. We have asked the channel to provide an allegorical text from the old Testament of your Bible.

Blessings, and Live Heaven!

End of Message

Quote from Old Testament –

“Then all the elders of Israel gathered themselves together, and came unto the prophet Samuel in Ramah. And they said unto him, ‘Behold, thou art old, and thy sons walk not in thy ways. Now make us a king to judge us like all the other nations.’ But this thing displeased Samuel, when they said ‘give us a King to judge us’, so Samuel prayed to God for guidance.

And the Lord said to Samuel, ‘Hearken unto the voice of the people in all that they say to thee, for they have not rejected thee, but they have rejected Me, that I should not be their Father. According to all the works which they have done since the day I brought them up out of Egypt even unto now, they have forsaken Me, and served other gods, and they also worship thee. Now therefore, hearken unto their voice, yet protest solemnly unto them, and show them the manner of the King that shall reign over them.’

And Samuel told all the words of the Lord unto the people that asked him for a King. And he said: ‘This will be the manner of the King that shall reign over you. He will take your sons, and appoint them for himself, for his chariots, and to be his horsemen, and some shall run before his chariots as soldiers. And he will appoint captains over thousands, and captains over fifties, and set them to reap his harvest and to make his instruments of war, and instruments for his chariots. And he will take your daughters to the confectionaries, and to be cooks, and to be bakers. And he will take your fields and your vineyards, and your olive groves, even the best of them, and give them to his servants. And he will take the tenth of your seed, and your vineyards, and give them to his officers and their servants. And he will take your menservants and your maidservants and your good young men, and your livestock, and put them to work. He will take the tenth of your sheep, and they shall be his servants.

And ye shall cry out in that day, because your King which ye shall have chosen will have chosen you, and the Lord will not hear you in that day.’

Nevertheless, the people refused to obey the voice of Samuel, and they said, ‘no, we will have a King over us. That we may be like all the other nations, and that our King may judge us, and go out before us, and fight our battles for us.’

And Samuel heard all the words of the people, and he remembered them in the ears of the Lord. And the Lord said to Samuel, ‘Hearken unto their voice, and make them a King.’

(That King was Saul, and he became a despot.)

- From King James Version, 1st Book of Samuel, Chapter 8, verses 4 through 22.

Note from Isaac: “I found the tone of this message to be quite uncompromising in its quality and strength. I was also stimulated by this channeling to reference another quote from Elia Wise’s book, “Letter to Earth” that adds further depth to the qualities and expressions of unconditional love.

“Unconditional Love means there are no conditions to diminish the constancy and quality of your love. It does not mean there are no requirements for relationship and no critical or discerning freedoms. Unconditional Love includes criticism, dissatisfaction, anger and disappointment, and can express them honestly without assigning blame. To expect yourself or others to love without discernment is unnatural. Discernment is a fundamental characteristic of consciousness. It grows in each of us as we grow toward greater enlightenment…”

Trick or Treat Greeting of Peace

A new message from my friend Isaac, but first a bit of background/update on the current energies.

Pure Divine Love Newsletter

November 1st, 2008

Vol. 10, Issue 5: Greetings of Peace,

“Trick or Treat”

The view of the elections in the U.S. is very interesting from my position here in Britain. Many programs have sprung up on television and radio about the American political process, the economy, the social fabric, history and culture. Big name BBC and ITV correspondents trundle across the American landscape interviewing and prodding, looking for a defining vibration that indicates a major shift in the future direction of the United States. A good many of them focus on the ascendency of Barack Obama, and how many view him as the only hope for the nation and its myriad problems and challenges (most of which were created by the Clinton and Bush presidencies). Shades of Princess Leia from Star Wars…‘help me Obi Wan, you are our only hope.’

In the meantime, almost forgotten in the bubbling froth of election fervor, is the continuing presence of George W. and company in Washington, D.C. The rumor mills among conspiracy theorists are churning with hints and signs that due process may be pre-empted by a Bush-hatched plot to suspend the elections, declare martial law, and create a police state, not necessarily in that order. As unlikely as this seems, the sheer volume of Executive Orders signed by Bush over the last 18 months that has gutted Habeas Corpus, overturned laws against using U.S. troops on American soil, and given the President the right to declare anyone an enemy of the state just because he says so, have fed the fears of many who wonder, ‘well, if you go to the trouble to get all of those pins set up, why not use them?’ Now, I am no conspiracy theorist, and prefer higher perspective that goes beyond the need for political parties or half-baked conspiracy theories, a future that is beyond the current ‘matrix’ that is based on the old paradigm of scarcity and fear. However, as the old Arab adage goes, ‘trust to Allah, and tie up your camel.’ Another way of saying it is to be self-sourcing and self-reliant, and eliminate codependency with anything that requires you to unnecessarily compromise yourself, or overburden your life with complexity and stress.

I subscribe to practical spirituality with direct and verifiable experience with Source, and express the application of intention as a natural extension of that Source. I envision a sustainable, peaceful, non-competitive life experience for myself and everyone. I see no logical reason for believing in scarcity, even though human DNA seems to be solidly programmed with it. I never was interested in competing, and in fact, it felt toxic in my body to do so, even in sports at school. I never really bought into the ‘it’s a dog eat dog world’ philosophy so prevalent in the 1950’s and 1960’s in the U.S., and I was a fanatical rebel whenever I heard anyone (especially mom) tell me to ‘go along to get along’, i.e., conform or be lost forever. In short, I was a sort of dropout, a non-participant in the ‘game’ of life on Planet Earth. * (see endnotes)

To approach the current financial situation with the mindset of trying to save or salvage the old order is to miss the point. Every day insult is being added to injury as the same banks and major investment firms that precipitated the mess (and which were encouraged by the politicians and economists from both parties who backed the ‘free markets know best’ syndrome) now ring the Fed Reserve doorbell and yell ‘trick or treat!’
They are getting most of the treats in big handouts, while at the same time thousands lose their homes, their savings, their livelihoods, and their self-respect from the trickery of excessive materialism. The trick has been played on the entire world, and now the treats are being sucked out of treasuries and central banks around the planet with breathtaking speed. Also, do not expect any swift retribution against CEO’s and other execs for the financial collapse when a new administration takes over in January. The system will attempt to protect itself, as all systems do when threatened from without or within, and the reforms will only penetrate to the first or second levels of power on Wall Street and within the D.C. Beltway.

While ‘grand theft tax money’ is being played out, we may miss another point. The homeless and destitute who believed in the American Dream turned nightmare are a growing segment of the population in the U.S., while in the U.K. the foreclosures and unemployment figures are also beginning to take a brutal hold on the economy. Who will support our brothers and sisters who are the casualties of the hedge-fund collapse? Are we our brother’s and sister’s keeper? What if we are hoarding, just like the banks, afraid that tomorrow may come and that there may not be enough to pay our bills, buy the food, put gas in the tank? What happens when the homeless ring the doorbell, and ask ‘treats, please?’ Do we turn away, or do we open our hearts to a new way, with a new consciousness? What is next?

As the Great Depression of the 1930’s began to grip the world, President-elect Franklin D. Roosevelt declared that ‘there is nothing to fear but fear itself’, and initiated reforms that got the American economy slowly back on its feet again. At the same time, the economic trauma of the worldwide depression spawned fascist regimes in Italy and Germany. People in those countries, tired of years of hyper-inflation and want, longed for someone to lead them out of hard times, a strong man with big words and a big vision. The direction of history for that time was a huge “Y” in the road, and eventually ended in World War II. These times are different, but our personal and collective choices will be even more important now.

What shall we choose then? If we do not wish to repeat history, I feel that it is time that we look to creating a different response to what it happening, and envisioning a different sort of future for ourselves and those who follow. We will be called upon to practice caring compassion for our fellow human beings, and to do better with less in our daily lives, making ever wiser and more informed choices in every aspect of our affairs. Some wise soul once said, “Abundance is having just enough to share.” Greed is the offspring of fear, and is the antithesis of faith. We must learn to face and transmute our fears, while developing an unshakeable faith in that Source of life that lives through us. We are One with God,as well as human. It is very important to know one essential thing: we are not alone, ever, and the well of Infinite Love is always present within and without us. The subconscious belief in scarcity is at the core of all fears, and since it is an illusion, it can be healed. We can collectively choose to set a course that will lead humanity out of the slavery to greed, want, monetarism, and consumerism, a course that will eventually free everyone from the need to compete for or hoard resources.

So, Halloween is here, and the time for trick and treat will soon be over. Next are Thanksgiving, then Solstice and Christmas. Remember those who seem to have less than you this holiday season, and let us open our hearts and purse-strings to assist in whatever way we can. No more trick or treat, boom and bust, winners and losers, survival of the fittest, rich or poor, light and dark.

Above and through it all, we need to recognize that all of this, the conditions of the world, is transitory and will change and pass away. In the light of that, it essential to live our lives to the fullest possible, and cultivate gratitude and joy, even when it seems we can’t. Turn within. Get quiet. Read a good novel. Enjoy nature. Cook some food. Snuggle under the covers for an extra 10 minutes. Dance a little. Cry, even if it is just to release the tension. Rent a funny movie. Help someone out. Add to this list and keep it growing.

Let us begin with this moment, a moment of grace, and not take sides anymore.

Peace,

Isaac

*Endnotes: * I’d like to include a quote here about competition from the book “Letter to Earth” by Elia Wise:” Competition is making you better at what does not work. And the economy is a completely illusory value system - even in its own context. The new language derives from energy, integralism, love and compassion. The tools you need are currently in development in your society. Some are already available for application. Some are temporarily thwarted from application by vested interests and established momentum.” (Page 117).

P.S. Since I’ve lived here now for four years, and I find it interesting that Guy Fawkes Day is November 5th, the day after Election Day in the U.S. Don’t know who Guy Fawkes is? Look it up here, or, watch the movie “V for Vendetta.”
